We have been using LP books phrase and guidebooks for all of our international travel for almost 20 years. Language lovers will love this book. Usually I prefer Lonely Planet because of their wide range of topics covered by the phrases, but all of them have their own benefits. There’s a problem loading this menu right now. The priority in learning a language should always be on communication and not on intensively studying each part of the language to perfection and then going on to the next one.
I am generally a huge fan of Lonely Planet and particularly their phrase books. Travel phrasebooks: a serious language learner’s best first book to study
Although interesting in its own right, if you have had some training or experience with at least one tonal language such as Mandarin or Cantoneseit may be easier to visualize the tone systems of the other languages in this book. For most people, this may be a very poor start to someone planning to become fluent, but there is still plenty of time!
